Steven converted 30 buildings in the Bronx in time for last winter. The buildings, which range in size from 21 units to 109 units with nine stores, had been burning #4 and #6 oil. Now with cleaner, greener, and more economical natural gas heat, "the savings are huge," he said. This winter, his heating bills were slashed in half, and he's now saving well over a million dollars collectively across his properties.
"It's absolutely one of the best things you can do," he said. Finkelstein, who has another 15 buildings in the pipeline to convert, recommends that other property owners consider converting from oil to natural gas heat. "They're insane not to do it."
