Day-Ahead Hourly Pricing Program (DAHP)

Day-Ahead Hourly Pricing Program (DAHP) allows customers to pay hourly retail electric energy rates that reflect the hourly changes in wholesale energy rates. There are often significant differences in hourly wholesale pricing in response to supply and demand. This method can be of great benefit to the customer who can shift load to non-peak hours, when electric rates are typically lower.

Customers can take advantage of Day-Ahead Hourly Pricing by installing an energy management system such as Con Edison’s Demand Monitoring Software or by using various load-curtailment strategies, which can include such measures as dimming lobby lighting or shutting down some of the elevator banks in a large office building. The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) issues hourly wholesale prices - called day-ahead prices - for the next 24-hour day. Based on these prices, Con Edison will in turn relay hourly wholesale prices via the Internet to its Day-Ahead Hourly Pricing customers.
