Could your business benefit from getting paid to use less energy? Can your business occasionally reduce its electricity demand? Con Edison will pay you $1.50 per kWh during planned events to reduce your energy demand whenever the day-ahead forecast exceeds either 96% of the forecasted summer system-wide peak—the more you conserve, the more you earn. Similar to our CSRP, Con Edison’s Critical Peak Rebate Program (CPRP) pays eligible business customers to temporarily cut back energy use during high demand periods in order to reduce peak-day generator emissions, delay installation of costly utility equipment, and reduce the purchase of expensive peak-day energy.
Benefits
- Reduces air pollution
- Delays need for costly system upgrades
Incentives
- Free Demand Monitoring Software (DMS) for customers with demand greater than 100kW
- Customers with energy demands greater than 100kW may be eligible for incentives through NYSERDA.

- Customers must be able to decrease their demand during their defined network day or night peak periods
- Customers with demand over 250 kW must have a Billing Interval Meter.
- Customers with demand below 250kW will receive an approved hourly electric measurement device
Program Details
Energy production and distribution has costs beyond those that show up on your bill each month. While Con Edison embraces the shift to clean energy, air pollution is still currently a byproduct of most energy generation practices. In response, high environmental standards have been established to help ensure that CPRP leads to air quality improvements. You get paid to use less energy, and we can all breathe a little easier.
