Electric Load Reduction Program

Installed Capacity Program (ICAP)

This program may be activated by the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) in response to power shortages or other emergencies. Con Edison will contact program participants with a request to curtail their power use. Customers enrolled in the program will receive an advisory day-ahead notice followed by a notice two hours before the event to curtail power. The curtailment capability periods are in effect from May 1 through October 31 and November 1 through April 30.

Eligibility and Requirements

Reduce at least 100 kW of electric load for at least four hours through on-site generation or curtailed billing interval meter
Emergency Demand Response Program participants are not eligible to participate in ICAP

Incentives

Payment based on a capacity rate that varies depending on the capability period and location. The capacity payment rate can be found at www.coned.com/documents/elec/ICAP.pdf
Energy payment that equals the higher of the real time Locational-Based Marginal Price adjusted for losses or the amount specified on the customer’s application, but no more than $.50/kWh
