The people who work at Con Edison reside mostly in the greater metropolitan area - that is, the five boroughs of Manhattan, New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut, and upstate New York, including Orange, Rockland, and Westchester counties. Some even make it in from Pennsylvania! But no matter where they live, it's safe to say they come from neighborhoods and communities that represent a rich ethnic, racial, and linguistic mix.
In 2010, minorities made up nearly 43% of the full-time workforce of 15,170 employees, and more than 18% of that figure was represented by women. That same year, 23% of the upper-management positions in the company were held by minorities and nearly 26% were held by women. In addition, Con Edison continues to translate its stated values into positive action as is reflected in our excellent record of promoting and hiring women and minorities.
