Net Metering
A special arrangement in which a solar, wind electric, farm waste customer, microCHP, or fuel cell supplies some or all of their own load, and may provide additional power that can be sold back to the utility at the customer’s voltage level.

Standby
The customer supplies some, or all, of their own electric load in parallel with the electric system.

Stand-Alone
The customer supplies all of their own electric load in isolation from the utility’s supply.

Standby With Stand-Alone
This feature allows a customer to supply some, or all, of their own electric load, and then continue to supply it upon the loss of the utility’s supply.

Buy Back
Customer sells power to the utility. The generator must be a qualifying facility according to federal definitions. The power transfer must be accomplished at the high-tension level.

Emergency Generation Only
Customer supplies all or some of their own electric load only when utility service is unavailable.
